Terms & Conditions

Female Pilot Club 2026 Festival Terms & Conditions

The Female Pilot Club Festival (the FPCF) is offered to you by Female Pilot Club Ltd (the 'FPC'), with a registered office at 92 Norbiton Ave, Kingston Upon Thames, England, KT1 3QP and a company registration number of 14248110.

 

By submitting an entry for the FPCF you are submitting your details to FPC (the "Promoters") and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

 

1. Awards

​

Films

The Winning films shall be recognised by the presentation of an award on the day of the festival. Titles of winning films and names of writer, director and producer will be published on the FPC's website and social media channels.

​

Official Selection Finalists shall also be recognised by having their names and titles published on the FPC's website and social media channels.

​

Scripts

The Winning scripts shall be recognised by having their Writer(s)'s names and script titles published on the FPC's website social media channels.

 

The Quarterfinalists and Semifinalists and Official Selection Finalists shall also be recognised by having their names and script titles published on the FPC's website and social media channels.

​

The Winners shall also:

a) receive an award on the day of the festival

b) receive mentorship support from Mentors chosen by the Promoters to polish their 10 pages by a date mutually determined prior to the Showcase Event; and

c) have their scripts read live by comedy actors in front of a live industry audience ('Showcase Event'), as selected by the Promoters. This stage is expected but not guaranteed to take place in Autumn 2026; it may be subject to funding, venue availability, or other circumstances beyond the Promoters’ control.

 

2. Judging & Notifications

​

After the 'Closing Date', a judging panel that includes at least one (1) independent judge with sufficient qualifications/experience, will select film and scripts based on quality of writing, as well as direction and production for films.

​

Entries will be judged and selected using the following process:

Stage One: All eligible entries will be reviewed by an reader or viewer appointed by Female Pilot Club 

Stage Two: A longlist of projects will be reviewed by FPC for Official Selection

Stage Three: A shortlist of films will be submitted to a team of industry judges who will select the Winners

​

The Promoters do not guarantee written, verbal, or individual feedback for any submission.

 

The decision by the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Winners will be selected at the judging panel's discretion and no Awards will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of an entrant. No alternative prize will be given and the Awards are non-transferable & non-exchangeable. However, the Promoters reserve the right to change the Awards due to circumstances beyond its control or to offer an alternative of similar value.

Each Winner agrees to absolve the Promoters from any liability that may result from or is claimed to have resulted from participating in the FPCF and/or from the acceptance or use of the Awards. Nothing in these terms and conditions in any way limits the Promoters' liability for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

 

Official Selection (OS) Finalist films and scripts will be notified via email, the message will inform each account of the next steps in the process (the "Prize Message"). OS should respond within 3 days to the Prize Message, although the Promoters may, at their discretion, extend this deadline. Failure to respond to the Prize Message within the timeline stipulated may result in the Prizes being forfeited and an alternate project being selected. The Promoters shall not be liable if any of the OS cannot receive it for reasons beyond its control.

 

For script submissions; the Promoters shall notify the Semifinalists and Quarterfinalists of their achievement via FilmFreeway. The Promoters' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Winning scripts and films will be announced on the day of the Festival.

 

3. Eligibility Criteria

​

To be eligible to enter the FPCF you must meet the following criteria:

a) You must be at least 18 years of age at the date of your submission.

b) You must not be employed as part of FPC.

​

AND

​

Films

1) Writer credit must include at least one woman; AND

2) Either Director or Producer must be a woman; AND

3) Film must be shot in the UK by a primarily UK-based team

​

Scripts

1) Scripts must be written by women

2) If writing as a team, all writers must be women

3) You must be UK-based, currently residing in the UK

 

4. Requirements

 

Entrants must submit the following to FilmFreeway no later than 11:59pm GMT on the stated Closing Date:

​

Film Requirements
a) Films must adhere to the maximum run time length requirement as defined by each submission category.
b) If your film is an Official Selection, you must provide us with a video file that is 1080p or higher.
c) Please provide a logline in the submission form.

​

Script Requirements
a) First 10 pages of a pilot episode TV script or Radio script:
i. that is original and belongs to you;
ii. that is unpublished;
iii. is in screenplay format;
iv. is converted to PDF;
v. is a maximum of 10 pages long;
vi. has a title page including: full name, contact email, series title and episode title; vii. name the pdf as follows: 'LAST NAME OF WRITER_ FIRST NAME OF WRITER_ TITLE OF SERIES'; and
b) Your application must be legibly typed and formatted. Entries must be written in English. If you submit any part of a script in another language you must also include your own translation of this into English.
c) Please provide a synopsis in the submission form.​

 

By submitting to FPC Festival, you agree to all of the following:


Images from Official Selection films can be used in FPC publications, the FPC website and all other media outlets related to FPC publicity. Entrants warrant that they have obtained all necessary rights, clearances, and permissions for the screening of their film and agree to indemnify the Promoters against any third-party claims arising from a breach of this warranty. FPC can keep the preview footage for its archive film libraries for viewing at the festival. You may be requested to provide bios and images for team members for publication.

Please note:
- Projects must be submitted by the stated deadlines for consideration.
- Information given on the submission form may be used by FPC for publications.
- FPC does not pay a fee for screening any film and we do not have the budget to help with accommodation or travel expenses.
- FPC accepts no responsibility if the information provided is inaccurate.
- Please note that submissions entered will not be returned.

5. Inclusivity

 

Female Pilot Club is committed to a policy of inclusivity.

 

To that end we offer women in genuine economic need the chance to enter their film or script into the festival on a 'pay it forward basis.' Please contact us through our website to request details.​

​

At FPC the term 'women' includes those who identify as women or are non binary.

 

6. Rights

 

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The project must not currently be under option by a production company. The Promoters do not accept liability if entrants ignore these rules and entrants agree to fully indemnify the Promoters against any claims by any third party arising from any breach of these rules.

Submission to the FPCF does not constitute a transfer or assignment of any intellectual property rights. All intellectual property remains with the entrant.

 

7. Liability

 

The Promoters may receive a high number of submissions, and similarities of subject matter often occur. The Promoters do not undertake to compensate you if material similar to yours, received coincidentally from another source, is subsequently commissioned or produced.

The Promoters reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the Festival or any associated events due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to force majeure events. In such circumstances, the Promoters shall not be liable for any losses incurred by entrants.

 

8. Ineligible Submissions

 

The following are ineligible and will not be considered:​

a) script submissions more than 10 pages in length

b) projects on DVDs, videos, CDs, audio tapes, or any video/audio material (whether it accompanies a script or otherwise);

c) new scripts written for existing or previously produced shows and/or characters;

d) short stories, novels, unpublished prose manuscripts, poetry or work you wish to have adapted into a script;

e) entries submitted after the Closing Date;

f) adaptations for broadcast of another writer's idea (including adaptations of other writers' novels); and

g) comedy sketch shows.​

 

9. Publicity and Data Protection

​

The Promoters as data controllers, are responsible for handling personal data in accordance with data protection law. The Promoters have a legitimate interest in using the personal data for the performance of this agreement, in the administration of the FPCF.

​

Entry to the FPCF gives the Promoters the right, without separate consent or compensation, to publicise any Quarterfinalist, Semifinalist, Official Selection Finalist and Winner names as well as any bios and headshots submitted to make further use of these in printed publications and on the internet, solely for administering the FPCF in accordance with applicable law.

 

The Winners will be required to provide their contact details to the Promoters. The Winners' personal details will only be used by the Promoters for the purpose of administration of the FPCF and in accordance with the terms of FPC Privacy Policy.

 

Entrants must agree to take part in any post-scheme publicity if required. Photographs and video taken during the Film Festival and Showcase Event may be used by FPC for its promotional purposes.

​

Entrants have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of their personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law.

 

10. Legal

 

The Promoters reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these terms and conditions or which may bring either/both the Promoters into disrepute, including any entries which profit from criminal activity.

 

By applying for the scheme, entrants warrant that they have legal capacity to enter the scheme and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
