Since the pandemic our pilots have been grounded. So we've set up a new mentoring scheme. And we'll showcasing brilliant comedy scripts as soon as it is safe to do so.
SPRING TEST FLIGHT TAKES OFF
We are delighted to announce the names of the wonderful writers to benefit from our Spring Test Flight Scheme!
They are Athena Kugblenu, Laura Evelyn, Rachel Clark, Sylvia Okyere & Zara Janjua.
The scheme was set up to help brilliant newer writers with barriers to inclusion to connect with their more experienced peers, to work on their winning script.
Two of the scripts will then get an online read in front of industry professionals.
The five talented writers will be mentored by experienced industry figures with a track record in making TV. The mentors include writers, directors, agents and script editors. They are: Annie Griffin (The Festival), Frog Stone (Bucket), Amy Schindler (Mystic) Julia Kent, (Class Dismissed) and Roz Kidd.Female Pilot Club is supported by Comedy 50:50 and the ScreenSkills Mentoring Network, which is supported by the BFI, awarding National Lottery Funds as part of its Future Film Skills strategy.
The mentoring programme is aimed at female writers from diverse ethnic backgrounds, with a disability, who are neuro-diverse, LGBTQ+, late starters, from a non-privileged socio-economic or geographic background.
If you are an emerging writer who submitted a script and have not been chosen - don't despair! Your scripts may still be considered for future schemes.
Our thanks go to Amanda Wilkin who has volunteered her time and talents not only as an actor but also as a script reader.
